So because of a few pictures from a couple fo years ago reminding me of one of the greatest summers of my life, i decided to go back to camp day and will be working as a counselor again in the midget unit. Can't wait to see old faces from a few years ago and new ones who will be going. Can't wait to see all the people i missed. See everyone this summer.

In fact, my tv show Dirtbags(based on my life in Framingham) is in developement at Fox. I am now writing a new sit-com tenatively titled...BASCOM LODGE...this show is the story of 6 of Frank A. Day's finest senior counselors...I am really excited about the show and would love any input from all of you. I have said this before and will say it again, Frank A. Day is one of the most iconic things, places, loves of my life...and I hope I have finally figured out an artistic way to celebrate and honor the "shores of Quacumquasett(spelling may be incorrect). Hope you are all well. P.s. Thank you Jen Dublirer and anyone who was in her age group at camp...all of you and the basketball nets you wore as fashion really became the reason for me writing this show. Basketball nets over shorts...only at Camp Day. My best...Matt Boren(1986-I can't remember...but I know I left way too soon and my dear friend Brian Crowe always reminded me of that.)

How funny to hear that to think how many years have passed since the "Midget Unit". I have heard great things about your work and commend you for it!! Bascom Lodge.. that is great! Good Luck in all you do. Jen and I were talking about you maybe a yr ago as somehow she had heard you had bumped into Chris Anderson (ironically) during a screen play or something.. Anyway you may not remember me... as I was younger.. I believe you were closer friends with Jen but I remember you.. as a cool kid, who was a genuine Camp Frank A Day spirit, comical and a great leader of whatever the name of our team was.. I want to say the Coyotes or Apaches..??not sure. I am pretty sure we won a plaque that summer though!! Take care and Be well ~ Karen Hathaway

I was a camper and counselor from 1946 to 1954 and have many many memories of wonderful days spent "on the shores of Quacumquasit". I do hope the camp still plays the bugle calls! My name may be familiar as I was on 8 or 9 plaques in those "early years" - if the plaques still exist, of course. Bobby Kepner was my senior counselor in Tent 1, and I gather he is still on the board of directors. Hey, Bob! I hope to visit the camp this summer - does one have to make arrangements? It would be the next few days. Best wishes, Jon Knowles

comments: karen hathaway...ofcourse i remember you. thank you for such a kind post on the camp day alumin page...i remember you as a sweet, outgoing, kind, cute girl with freckles? am i right about the freckles? God, it has been way too long...we all have to see each other soon...so i have based my 6 characters for the new BASCOM LODGE sitcom on so many of you...the 6 are loaded combinations of Robin Suvalle, Jen Dublirer, Brian Cronin, Jason/Ron/Courtney/Bill Burwyck, Alisa Kablotzky, Sean(i was 9 and he was the coolest but can't recall his last name)Jeremy(I love U2) Schiller, Michelle Rosen, Liz and Katie Harrington, Eden Eisenstein and many more...I have also thrown in beautiful characteristics of my peer group including the greatest girl from Newton I have ever known Sarah Mangion, my camp/hebrew school/hometown friend Meredith Rubin, the brilliantly funny Dan Blaney, the cool, talented Adam Wolfsdorf, the best friend Brian Crowe(who by the way, before we went to camp every year, would walk with me around our neighborhood and talk about what we thought the upcoming summer would be like)the Cape Cod like, campfire girl Torey Fazen, the wonderful rebel who stole everyone's heart Michelle Riordan, the guy who always made you feel like you belonged Paul Schmidt, the Holliston angels Lori and Sharon Krim, the Long Island posse of love Stacey, Josh and Scott Lieberman and the Hartman sisters. The funniest guy anyone could have ever gone to camp with, the talented spirit Jason Simon(thanks for all the sleepovers in Newton)the swimmer, athlete, girl who had her wonderful bat mitzvah on a boat Amy McKnight...oh the list goes on... By the way if Cheryl Mack ever reads this...we loved your name so much as campers we had a song for it, if you can hear it by reading it was something like this "Cheryl Mack Cheryl Mack...MMM, Cheryl Mack...." Oh let me never forget the inspiration of Wendy Shapiro, who when she would come to our tent to sneak us out(she was a camper, dont worry) would attempt to say "shh" but whistled instead alerting all the On DUTY counselors to us...Did you guys ever wonder why everyone always said "Are on O.D. tonight?" that would mean "are you ON ON Duty tonight?" If any of you are in L.A. let me know...would love to see you. Matt Boren

Saw Matt Boren's note & he brought up many old names I haven't thought of in many years. My oldest is now 7 (could be a "midget" but content with day camp for right now) and would love for him to experience Camp Day as I once did. If you were a camper/counselor between the years 79-87 would love to hear from you. Since I have not added my thoughts lately..I figured I would ..Everyone has their own unique and indivual memories along the shores of Quacumquasit ( hope I spelled it right) It was just the best place to me..I feel that I was so privileged to have experienced summer after summer at Camp Day not only for all of the fun I had and the countless friends & counselors I met, but for also being to able to have all of those memories be a part and a piece of me and who I am today. The memories are still so vivid in my mind today. I can never forget my great camp friends.. Breyn & Jessica..still no sign in from you two.. where are ya? Unbelievable memories I can never forget friday night dances, first camp kiss ( he shall remain nameless) and second camp kiss.. he shall remain nameless too. Over coming my diving fears through private lessons .. since I was such a horrible swimmer/diver, team waterfront races canoe relays, free swim and ensuring you reserved the surf board, remember movie night on the gross mattress' above the dining hall, and how excited your cabin was when they won that!! Casino night, the cantine...aahh birch beer and sweet tarts,. Day of choices.. walk to the clam box. Pajama Breakfast, Color War.. GO GREEN!!, Air bands, All Camp Dodge Ball, Slip & Sliding down the muddy hill near the barn what a blast!! A personal favorite was Midget STreet hockey!! Ahh the simplicity of life then.. I have not been to the camp since I was 14. I will be 27 soon.. and absolutely would like to attend a reunion. So count me in for the next one as well.. and I will look forward to hopefully seeing some old familiar faces. Take care and be well !!

Twenty two years later finds me married (to Lori, the girl who visited the camp several times during that summer), father of two wonderful kids (Jodi, age 9 and David, age 5), living in the Albany, NY area and working as a civil engineer for NYSDOT. I routinely tell my children and others the summer at Camp Day was the best of my life. In fact, it was a result of telling my kids a Camp Day bedtime story that prompted me to search for and subseqently find this web site. Thanks to all who worked on this excellent site and most of all, to Dick & Sonya McKnight, and all the counselors, camp staff, campers and parents that made the summer of 1982 so wonderful. I'd love to hear from anyone who remembers me. Hopefully, I'll be able to attend a future reunion. Take care and talk to you soon. John

comments: what a wonderful trip down memory lane this site gave me. I offer you these... I recall after several minutes of calendar math, that I was a blue-tag swimmer around 1976-1981. David "the Master" Bader was one Counselor I recall, although I didnt get the joke until years later. He might have had some part in painting REDRUM on the girl's cabin, another reference that went over my head at the time, but I held on to long enough to come across later in life. the best day every year was the day I arrived and the worst was the day I left. I remember daily cabin and tent inspections, hoping for the elusive 100, but often falling short because of dirt on the steps. What was the prize for top cabin anyway, I never found out! I remember seemingly endless slow dances on friday nights to "Freebird" and "stairway to heaven" with with girls whose names escape me, but whose clumsy but genuine embraces never will. I remember hoping we would stay slow through the fast parts. I remember being a perrenial captain but never getting on a plaque. I remember newcomb and basketball on the short courts. I remember naming one of our teams Cheyenne, which is still one of the prettiest words I know. I remember the Store and the Birch Beer and Granny. I was there the year that someone broke into the store (you know who you are JUSTIN !!) and tossed a lot of candy over the cliff. Camp was the only time I ever shot an arrow, sailed a boat, rowed a canoe, swam a mile, and played polo with a greased watermelon. I remember the epic capture the flag battles and remember the lowering of the flag every day. I remember the sunday services where I first heard the word God, and learned the lords prayer (to my parent's dismay). Due to stressed out parents who each made poor life-partner choices, the 1st session every year was the best of times during the worst of times for my Brother Jon and me. comments: I have had an email change (again) Hopefully, we will stay put for a while now in the Chicago area...I have had such a great time hearing from some past campers...it is so bittersweet to read the memories--I miss that time and the excitment of waiting for Camp's arrival each year. Anyway, if you recognize my name--send an email...I was at camp from 76-86...My Dad was also a camper as a kid--he thought it was great to have this site too (I think he was there from 46-50) Anyway...Gray does rule!!

comments: WOW...I just came across this website by accident...what a treat! I was a camper from 1991-1994 and on staff from 1995-1999. It is so wonderful to be updated on what so many people are up to... I'm currently in Boston, working as a behavior therapist with autistic children. I would love to reconnect with camp day folk, so email me!. Love to you all :)

comments: Wow... I wish I had discovered this site sooner! Reading through the comments of other alumni brought back so many memories! Seems like everyone is doing well. The Hartmans are all still here in NY, but reminisce often about our days at camp. Andrea and Jenn are both married now with 2 kids each. Andrea has 2 young boys and lives with her husband on Long Island; Jenn is in Westchester with her husband and 2 little girls. Mike's living in White Plains and works for NBC in Rockefeller Center and Aaron is currently going to Stony Brook for med school. As for me, I live and work in Manhattan... after several years in the fashion industry, decided to go back to school for teaching and now teach 2nd grade here in the city. It'd be great to reconnect with those of you who at one point in time were such a big part of our lives!! Best way to reach me is via email: DebbieHrtm@aol.com and I can easily get you in touch with any of the others. Look forward to hearing from you! :)

comments: Wow. Debbie told me about this website, and it's been great reading all of the guestbook entries and seeing all of the familiar names! Camp Day is truly an exceptional place - I spent ten incredible summers there (1983-1991;1993) and would love to go back for an alumni reunion. Take care! Jenn

comments: Alright so this is a joint entry between me (Dan) and Seth ('89 - '95). We just got such a laugh reading these entries and recognizing so many names we felt the need to add our own entry and toss out some of our best memories from good ol' Camp Day. Here's some of the ways camp has permanantly affected us. Still searching for a store carrying Birch Beer..has anyone found this ANYWHERE?! - Still clanging pots and pans at birthdays. - Still can't bring myself to wear the color grey...GO GREEN! - Every time I see a bonfire I feel the urge to throw a chip in and thank my friends for the memories. - Every time I go to a lake house I feel the need to swim 17 laps to prove I still got it... - When lighting a candle I always think to myself "One light, the beacon light." Best speech ever! - I still haven't recovered from the Wheelchair Mary story...damn you Corky! - The Senior Field is STILL the most romantic place I've brought a girl after a dance. - Can you believe we hung the flag every morning, how great was that... - Comforted every night knowing we (The Mounties) created a plaque for ourselves so we'll always be a part of camp histoy..THIS IS REAL. Check it out, it still sits in the dining hall. (Don't take it down Dick, you're on it!) - Mike Mayzer is STILL the fastest man I've seen run in person. (My cabin 9 CIT) - Adam Wolfstorf is STILL the best singer I've ever heard in person. (My cabin 8A CIT) - Amy Kelly is STILL the hottest girl I ever knew from my childhood. - Amy McKnight is STILL the best actress I've ever worked with. "Darth Vader" only you will get that one Amy. - I don't do karaoke..I perform "airbands". - The Fazens are still one of the coolest families I knew, sorry "Hallen's" - Every time I meet a Burwick I hope they're related to Bill, Courteney, Ron... - Seriously how HOT was it that one of the girls cabins was called "The Motel". Alright we could go on and on and on...shout outs to all the great people we met over the years. Anyone looking to get in touch...WRITE! P.S Matt Levine where are you...call!
