comments: I will never forget all of the wonderful people that I had the opportunity to compete with as a camper. I spent several years as a Unit Head in both the Midget & Senior Units. Several of my soccer players from Lexington H.S. served as counselors and came away with the same impressions that I had. What a great place to work with young people and help them grow up. I will never forget what that experience has meant to me . Doc, Coach, Vinnie,Chef, Silent Ed and all of the counselors thatIhad in my many years as a camper helped immensely in my formative years. I will be forever greatful. As a Unit Head working with Harry,Ed,Chef ,Doc,Warren, Smitty, Dick and lets not forget our nurses and maintenance you will not find a more professional and caring staff to have worked with. The memories that I have are priceless.

comments: wow, what an amazing site to have come across. I was at Frank A. Day as a CIT and counselor 1987-89, way too short a period of time. I guess I should be embarrassed to say this, but I still occasionally have dreams where I am there as a counselor! great to see some names I recognize. I was honored to be amongst the midgets--some great kids and counselors. Ably led by the indomitable and Paul Bunyanesque Nathan, standing somewhere between 10 and 12 feet high. Congratulations Marci Shapiro on your son Max. I will stop myself before I write a long and bad novel. If anyone comes across this who was unlucky enough to have been placed under my counselor-ship or who co-counseled alongside me, I'd love to hear from you. Best to all, especially you lucky bastards who were at the reunion last year! The pictures look amazing. Dick and Sonia look exactly as I remember them.

comments: I was a camper at Camp Frank A Day
between 1971 and 1974 (or arounf there).
I was the first Quocquemquosette Indian
(not sure of the spelling of Q...) --
in the last year of my tenure. My name was
on a board hanging outside the hut that they
played the wake up records from as my Dad
drove me off to NY... I pointed it out
(first time I saw it) -- to my dad.
He was unimpressed I guess.
I remember a
guy named Jeff Baden who I beat in the
long distance run around the camp.
I also remember a guy named Mark (or Marco)
whose Dad was a camp director or something...
Mark(o) and I had a fight over someone
dumping my trunk in the lake. It was brief.
I am sorry I knocked your tooth out Marco...
And I hope you quit smoking...
I have a lot of fond memories, and
some sad ones. I would like to be
thirteen again, in the Summer,...
I remember Nixon announcing the
end of the Vietnam war... someone
had a radio while we were camped
out after the /big/ canoe trip --
we were on some rich guys lawn
next to the river. Imagine that!
And the guy who owned the land
gave us green combs (wierd ruler-
marked combs) -- I kept mine
for years but have lost track of it.
Anyone remember me? Some buddies and I
set a swimming record... Marco --
you out there? Jeff Baden? You looked
like a wall street analyst at age 13,
are you out there?

comments: Hi Scott -- Your post brought back some memories. I was a counselor and later Midget Unit Head the years you were at camp. That is Jeff Bader you are thinking about. Jeff is now the head of programming at ABC and he was at the last reunion. And you had the fight with Marco Duffey; his dad was the Junior Unit Head in 1974 and 1975. The canoe trips always camped overnight at Mr. England's property in East Brookfield. The award you won was given to the top all around camper in each unit; I believe that they are still giving it today after a hiatus of a number of years.

Hello all. Very Sorry I missed out on that reunion.
I remember when I was 11 sitting in the Newton YMCA crying over whether or not I should go to camp that summer. I went for 5 years and should have gone longer.

comments: The Family camp looks like so much fun!! I would love to introduce my three girls to the “Shores of Quacumquasit deep among the pines”!!!! The notice this year came too short to plan a trip East but this is something we would do in the future! I was a camper from 1977 (?), the first year the let girls attend until 1985 (I think that is right…) Such great memories…anyone remember Tad and his song about Nanook of the North? (“Achi-taki-oomah?”) how about Joey and “One Fat Hen?” and of course the happy old standard…The Titanic . I torture my girls with these songs now around the campfire!!! I have enjoyed hearing from some of you off the website! Have a great Family Weekend!!!
